Representing Pharmacists at the State Legislature
We had over 100 pharmacists and students join us at the state legislature on March 9th for one of our favorite annual events: OPhA Legislative Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Garnering exclusive one-on-one time with legislators from across the state, we were provided the opportunity to have these members 100% attention focused on the issues that are important to independent pharmacists.
Pharmacist representatives were present in each House and Senate office throughout the day building relationships and educating members on the importance of all of these bills, to both patients and communities throughout Oklahoma. We heard from House Speaker Charles McCall, Representatives Marcus McEntire and T.J. Marti, Senate Floor Leader Greg McCortney and Senator Rob Standridge during the day as they shared updates to their current bills.
Currently, we have 4 bills in the Senate Retirement and Insurance Committee:
- OPhA’s priority bill, SB1860, by Sen. Greg McCortney
- SB1324 by Sen. McCortney, a requested bill by Pharma and deals with manufacturer rebates
- Two bills by Sen. Shane Jett, SB1633 and 1635, are PBM regulation bills that are also scheduled to be heard
A big thank you to our sponsor PharmacyLite for helping make this day possible and a huge shout out to each of you who joined us in sharing the importance of what these bills mean to the state and all Oklahomans. We’re looking forward to a productive and successful legislative year!
