Advocating for you

The OPhA is your STRONG voice at the Oklahoma State Capitol. We aggressively advocate for the pharmacy profession by shaping public policy and the scope of practice to enhance the value of pharmacy in our state.

Every year bills are introduced in the Oklahoma legislature that impacts our pharmacy practices. Our advocacy efforts include monitoring issues as they develop, attending legislative meetings, connecting with legislators and their staff and more.

Our legislators and regulators are making decisions that affect our profession, income and patients. These decision-makers need to have a reliable source of information to help give them all the facts. OPhA is that source! We have positioned ourselves to be legislators’ first call when a pharmacy bill comes across their desk.

Our Policy Issues

Here are a few issues OPhA monitors closely to keep our members in the know.

  • Patient steering
  • Forced mail order
  • Underwater claims
  • Spread pricing

Our team works hard to empower our members to connect with legislators! We’ll provide you with background and potential outcomes of legislative issues. The best way we can equip you is by providing places to connect with your legislators. Don’t miss our events where you get one-on-one time with legislators from across the state.

I want to thank the Oklahoma Pharmacist Association for a very informative meeting. I will continue to work with the OPhA to address the needs of our local homegrown pharmacies and the constituents in District 9!

Senator Dewayne Pemberton

“Thank you to the Oklahoma Pharmacist Association for the invitation to learn more about the challenges that our rural pharmacies face. It was a great presentation and I enjoyed the opportunity to meet several of your members and discuss issues with my constituents.”

Senator Blake Stephens

Pharmacy Law

The world of pharmacy is constantly evolving. For independent community pharmacies, the fight to stay in business is rooted in the widespread recognition of pharmacists as valuable healthcare providers. As new laws and regulations pass, and pharmacists are granted greater responsibilities and opportunities, it is important to keep up with these updates and apply them to your own practice.
