President’s Message
Pharmacy isn’t easy and it has become even more challenging.
It is truly an honor to serve as President of the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association. The past year has been unique, to say the least and I am truly thankful for the opportunity to serve as your President for one more year. I am humbled by the amount of encouragement and support I’ve received this past term. With your continued involvement and overwhelming support, I look forward to another year of fighting for Oklahoma Pharmacists!!
I’d like to take a moment to thank my family. My wife, Becky, and my sons Watson and Cash, for supporting me in all of my endeavors… that often take me away from home. I’d like to thank my mentors John and Janice Watson for the opportunities they have given me and I’d also like to thank my pharmacy staff for taking care of the stores while I am away. I truly appreciate all of your support.
Pharmacy isn’t easy and it has become even more challenging. We have been working our way through uncharted territory with the arrival of COVID-19. We know our Oklahoma pharmacists are tough and they found a way to make it through these difficult times. Pharmacists are frontline heroes and continue to serve the public in the face of personal risk during the COVID pandemic.
Even during a global pandemic we still managed to pass some of the best legislation in the country. Thanks to our amazing legislators, T.J. Marti, Marcus McEntire, Greg McCortney, and Rob Standridge, we have expanded our scope of practice by eliminating the need for a vaccination physician protocol, set up the Patient’s Right to Pharmacy Choice Commission, took a big step forward in provider status and now have the most protective Audit Law in the nation. But as we all know we have some unfinished business we need to complete. The continued success we’ve accomplished in Oklahoma is being modeled by others across the country.
